How to edit a section's details
In Edit Mode, open a section's menu and choose Values to set its name, label, short title, description, and tagline.
You need to be logged in with your site open.
Steps
- Click the pencil icon on the right of the toolbar to turn on Edit Mode.
- On the section you want to change, click the menu button (the ≡ icon) at the right of its title.
- Choose Values. A list of fields opens inside the section.
- Fill in the fields you want. Point at the small i icon beside a field to read a hint about it.
- Click the eye icon (Preview) to check the result.
You should see
Your changes on the section, and in the navigation or footer where they apply.
What each field does
| Field | What it does |
|---|---|
| Name | The section's unique key on your site. It appears in the page address, so renaming it moves the page |
| Label | A singular noun for what the section is, such as Service or Blog post. Shown in the navigation and footer, not as a heading |
| Label plural | The plural of the label. Used in the navigation and footer when the section has items to list |
| Short title | The heading used when the section appears as a block inside its parent's page |
| Description | A one-line summary. It stands in for the body in AEO output when the content is empty, and feeds the page's structured data |
| Tagline | A supporting line under the heading. Plain text; markup is escaped |
Good to know
Changes you make on the page save automatically, so there is no Save button to click.
Changing Name changes the section's web address, so any link to the old address stops working.
Another way
- Click Manage in the toolbar, then choose Content.
- Click the section in the list on the left. Each entry shows its Name and its Title.
- Change the fields on the Content tab, then click Save at the top right.
The Content Manager uses slightly different labels:
| On the page (Values) | In the Content Manager |
|---|---|
| Name | Name |
| Label | Display name |
| Label plural | Display plural |
| Short title | Short Title |
| Description | Description |
| Tagline | Tagline |
The Content Manager also holds the section's Title and Content, its Icon, its images, its addresses, Display Order, and the Options checkboxes.
