Editing AEO Content

AEO (Answer Engine Optimisation) makes your content citable by AI assistants. Every content item on your site carries one AEO role that tells machines what kind of thing it is: Article, FAQ, Person, Place, Product, Review, or Service.

Step 1: Navigate to AEO

1. Click on Sites in your top navigation bar.
2. From the drop-down menu, select AEO.
3. Your site sections are listed in the left sidebar. A green check next to an item means it has short content and will appear in your structured data. A number flags items with missing pieces.

Step 2: Select an item

Click a section to expand it, then click the item you want to edit. The editor shows two tabs: Content and AEO. The AEO tab holds the fields that drive your structured data.

Step 3: Fill out the fields

• Title and Tagline: the same fields you know from the Content tab, shown here because they feed the structured data.
• Short Content: a one-sentence summary of the item, 128 characters or fewer. This exact sentence is emitted as the item's description in your site's JSON-LD. If Short Content is empty, the item emits nothing, and the preview panel tells you so.
• AEO Role: pick one of Article, FAQ, Person, Place, Product, Review, or Service. Items inside a section normally show None (inherits role), meaning they take their section's role automatically. Only set a role directly when an item should differ from its parent.

Step 4: Check the Preview

The Preview panel on the right shows the exact JSON-LD this item emits: its @id, name (your title), description (your short content), and @type (its role). What you see there is what an answer engine reads.

Step 5: Save

Click Save at the top right. To save and immediately re-run the site audit, click Save & audit.

Weak short content: 'We deliver transformative experiences.'

Strong short content: 'We build custom Django systems for operational workflows and internal tools.'

One complete, standalone sentence beats a paragraph. The clearer the sentence, the likelier the citation.
